On Saturday 22/October/2020 Afghanistan Chamber of Commerce and Investment signed MoU with the Aziz Bank in the presence of Mr. Tawakal Ahmadayar ACCI’s Director-General, Khairudden Mael Ahmadi commercial assistant of the board of directors, Sayed Jawid Burhan head of the international relations of the board of directors, Khan Jan Alokozey, Azrakhash Hafizi, Muhammad Gardezey, and Ahmad Zia Azimi Shenozada members of the board of directors, Hamid Hamidi head of the board of supervision, head of the private banks association, heads of Kabul chamber of commerce and investment and international commercial chambers, the executive director of Azizi Bank, and a number of traders and investors to provide a discount for small, medium and large enterprises.
ACCI’s CEO Mr. Sayed Zaman Hashimi said, “Afghanistan Chamber of Commerce and Investment is the largest and aged active organization in Afghanistan which has done a lot to increase Afghan exports, bring reformation, and to improve the economy.” He, furthermore, said that to eliminate trader’s and investor’s problems, ACCI has arranged several regular meetings with the government, international organizations, and traders and investors of the country.
Mr. Hashimi added that the private sector is facing the following fundamental challenges: high - interest rate, tough assurance conditions, complex loan procedures, and lack of access to financial resources and hopes that Azizi Bank would provide more facilities in this regard.
Mr. Muhammad Salim Omid CEO of the Azizi Bank said, “Based on this MoU, Azizi Bank will provide more facilities in regards to lending money for all the traders and investors of the country.”
Mr. Azrakhsh Hafizi said that dissolving Agricultural, Industrial, and Construction banks was a serious harm to the economy of the country and asked the government to support the Afghanistan Chamber of Commerce and Investment. He, furthermore, said that to eliminate the private sector’s problems, a committee consists of the representatives of the private banks, Central Bank, Ministry of Finance, and ACCI should be constituted.
At the end of the event, ACCI and Azizi Bank signed the MoU and the technician of ACCI presented information about ACCI.
Mr. Tawakal Ahmadyar welcomed Ukrainian commercial delegation and talked about the current investing opportunities in Afghanistan. He furthermore said, “Considering the existing investment opportunities, I hope that both countries would strive to build strong commercial relations.”
Mr. Hashimi said that using the TIR Carnet system with the neighbor and regional countries is a good privilege, although, Afghanistan has issued 176 TIR Carnet during the past eight years and has not been able to use this system the way it should have been used and the reason is the lack of cooperation of the customs of the country.
Mr. Azrakhash Hafizi welcomed the participants of the meeting and added that leaders of the private sectors require strong coordination and cooperation in the region. He affirmed that facilitating the issuance of visas for the expansion and development of the economy in the region is necessary. And we all have to work together to strengthen cooperation and coordination in the region.
Mr. Tawakal Ahmadyar thanked the First Vice President of the country for holding regular meetings and providing solutions for the problems of the private sector.
