Mr. Alhaj Sayed Karim Hashimi, Director General of the Afghanistan Chamber of Commerce and Investment, in the presence of Alhaj Habibullah Omar, Deputy for Social and Cultural Affairs of the Chamber, respected members of the Central Board of Directors, and a number of national traders, met with Mr. Jeffrey Grieco, President of the Afghan–American Joint Chamber, in the city of Mazar-e-Sharif.
During the meeting, Mr. Hashimi discussed Afghanistan’s trade relations with countries in the region and around the world and emphasized the expansion of joint cooperation, particularly the establishment of joint chambers between Afghanistan and various countries.
He also highlighted recent developments in cooperation between the World Bank and the Asian Development Bank with Afghanistan’s private sector, especially in supporting small and medium-sized enterprises. He noted that, based on the proposal of the Director General of the Afghanistan Chamber of Commerce and Investment, these forms of assistance should be delivered to eligible entrepreneurs and genuine traders through coordination with the Chamber.
The meeting also included discussions and an exchange of views on the banking challenges faced by Afghanistan’s private sector, particularly the transfer of traders’ funds, as well as the use of Chabahar Port under the understanding between the United States and India, which could create new transit and trade opportunities.
The Afghan–American Joint Chamber pledged its full cooperation in this regard.
