Brief Introduction of Chambers Reform Commission (CRC)

Introduction:

Chambers Reform Commission was established based on order of Islamic Republic Presidency of Afghanistan, encouragement and eagerness of Ministry of Commerce, active participation and direct cooperation of private sector representatives, National traders, Afghanistan Chambers of Commerce and Industry (ACCI), Afghanistan International Chambers of Commerce (AICC) and other sectoral institutions to draft specific proposals for development of mechanisms, general principles, ways of practical works, reorganizing and rebuilding of chambers in Afghanistan.

Goals:

The important goal for its establishment was to make the path for creating a strong, modern and effective chamber to find the solutions for enterprises problems, delivery of necessary and required services and active participation with them as a potential partner of government institutions in policy making process of country’s economics.

  Achievements:

 Besides creating open and making atmosphere of discussions with enterprises, Afghanistan chambers of commerce and industry (ACCI), Afghanistan Chamber of Commerce(AICC), related business institutions and Ministry of Commerce and Industry, Chambers Reform Commission has approached to some agreements and achievements such as; conducting survey of chambers of commerce and industry of Afghanistan and preparing report of this issue in fall of 2005 (1384), determining fundamental principles of chamber through agreement dated on 22 Sep. 2005 (31 Sunbola 1384), organizing draft of Afghanistan chambers of commerce and industry By-law dated on 25 Dec. 2005 (4 Jady 1384) and developing the first draft of Afghanistan chambers of commerce and industry Law.

 Currently, the commission is busy with conducting provincial conferences in 7 regional zones that each covers the related provinces. In one specific day, Saturday, 17 June 2006 (27 Jawza 1385) to make aware the private sector of the country of the different chambers system, choosing their representatives to participate in National Conference in Kabul on Saturday, 12th August 2005 (21 Asad 1385) and they will vote on future chamber system in Afghanistan.

 The mentioned zones are the following:

 1-     Central Zone: Kabul, Ghazni, Parwan, Kapisa, Wardak, Logar, Bamyan and Panjshir Provinces.

2-     Western Zone: Herat, Badghis, Farah, Ghore and Nimroze Provinces.

3-     South-Western Zone: Qandahar, Urozgan, Zabul and Hilmand Provinces.

4-     Southern Zone: Khost, Paktia and Paktika Provinces.

5-     Northern Zone: Balkh, Jozjan, Faryab, Samangan and Sur-i-Pul Provinces.

6-     North-Eastern Zone: Kunduz, Takhar, Baghlan and Badakhshan Provinces.

7-     Eastern Zone: Ningarhar, Kunar and Laghman provinces.

 Commission Members: In addition to national and international advisors, Chambers Reform Commission is comprised of 19 members:
